Las Amigas, Incorporated 17th National President attends the Uncommon Height Gala in Washingon, D.C.... Las Amigas, Incorporated 17th National President Joann W. Williams was an Honorary Committee Co-chair of the 2009 Uncommon Height Gala presented by the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) in Washington, D.C. First Lady Michelle Obama was the Honorary Chair. Over 2000 were in attendance including Las Amigas sisters representing the Baltimore, Forestville, Greensboro, and Washington-Metro chapters. Oprah Winfrey was the recipient of the 2009 Uncommon Height Award. Proceeds from the event strengthen NCNW's capacity to meet critical needs in the empowerment of women and their families.
